Questions

Four questions about the curriculum.

Can I choose my own electives?

Partly. In block 2 you take 8 credits of electives: both marketing electives, or one of them plus another Economics and Business master course, such as Economics of Negotiations or Experimental Economics. Block 4 is your other choice: one of four seminars, Global Marketing, Sustainable Marketing, Designing New Products and Experiences or Customer-centric Value Creation.

When does the thesis start?

In block 3, while the seminar is still running, and it continues through blocks 4 and 5. It is worth 16 of the 60 credits, so it is the largest single piece of the year.

You turn a marketing or management problem into a research question, choose a design that can answer it, and defend what your evidence does and does not show, working with a supervisor from the marketing department. It is a chance to build new knowledge and develop your skills, coached by our faculty.

How big are the groups?

Seminar groups are capped at 24 students, and every student takes them. Core courses and electives are taught to the full cohort, which is small enough that teaching staff know who you are and you can ask a question in the room. The faculty puts it plainly: you do not just sit and listen, you debate, present and apply your ideas. Expect group assignments from block 1.

How long is a block, and when are the exams?

Eight weeks: seven of teaching and one of examinations. Five blocks make the year, and the first exams come at the end of October.
